ANSWERS

FAQ's

Q: Who is eligible to join TakeBack Health?
A:  Adults 18 and older who reside in the United States and are seeking care for conditions where TakeBack offers structured programs (such as post-herpetic neuralgia and vulvodynia). Eligibility is determined through intake review and may vary by state law.

Q: Do I need a referral from my doctor?
A: No referral is required. Patients may begin the enrollment process by completing an intake form and eligibility screening; completion of intake does not guarantee acceptance into a program or receipt of treatment.

Q: Can I join if I already see another doctor or specialist?
A: Yes. TakeBack is designed to complement, not replace, existing medical care.   We do not assume responsibility for care provided by outside clinicians, and coordination occurs only with patient consent.

Q: Can caregivers enroll on behalf of a patient?
A: Caregivers may assist with completion of intake forms; however, all telehealth visits, clinical decisions, and consent must involve the patient directly, unless legally authorized documentation is provided.

Q:  Does meeting eligibility criteria guarantee care or prescriptions?
A:  No.  All services are subject to provider evaluation and determination of medical appropriateness.  Some patients may be determined not to be suitable candidates for telehealth care or for specific treatments.  Healthcare providers may determine that telehealth care, or continued participation in a program, is not clinically appropriate at any time.

Q: What conditions do you treat?
A:  TakeBack offers structured telehealth programs for specific conditions, including post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN) and vulvodynia. Additional programs are under development.

Q: What makes TakeBack different from other pain clinics?
A:  TakeBack Health provides the infrastructure, care coordination, education, and technology that support a layered, non-opioid approach to chronic pain management.

Clinical care is delivered by an independent physician practice using individualized medical judgment. Treatment approaches may consider neurological, hormonal, musculoskeletal, and microbiome-related contributors to pain, but specific recommendations vary by patient and are not based on a fixed or guaranteed protocol.

Q: What happens after I enroll?
A:  After enrollment:

  1. You complete a secure online intake.
  2. A licensed clinician reviews your information through our partner medical practice.
  3. If appropriate, the clinician may recommend a personalized plan, which can include prescription therapies and follow-up check-ins.
  4. Ongoing communication and adjustments occur as clinically indicated.

Q: Will I get a prescription?
A:  Only if clinically appropriate. Licensed clinicians may prescribe non-opioid, non-controlled treatments such as compounded topical therapies or low-dose naltrexone (LDN) when indicated. Prescriptions are not guaranteed.

Q: Do you provide physical therapy or counseling directly?
A:  TakeBack Health does not provide physical therapy, psychotherapy, or counseling services directly. When clinically appropriate, clinicians from the affiliated physician group may recommend referrals to external providers, such as pelvic floor physical therapists or behavioral health professionals.

Referrals are provided for patient convenience. TakeBack Health and the affiliated physician group do not supervise, manage, or assume responsibility for care delivered by external providers.

Q: How long does a program last?
A:  Initial programs typically run for approximately 12 weeks. Some patients may continue with additional follow-up or extended support depending on clinical needs.

Clinical decisions, including whether to initiate, modify, or discontinue care, are made exclusively by licensed clinicians practicing through an independent physician group.

Q: How do visits take place?
A:  Most TakeBack care is delivered asynchronously through our secure, HIPAA-compliant portal. Video consultations are scheduled when required by state regulations or when requested by the patient or clinician.

Q: How do I prepare for my telehealth appointment?
A:  If a medical telehealth visit is scheduled, the affiliated physician group will provide instructions on how to prepare. This may include using a specific video platform and ensuring access to a reliable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone, and a quiet, private location.

Patients should be prepared to discuss their medical history and current concerns during the visit, following the instructions provided by the physician group. Patients are responsible for participating in telehealth visits in an environment that supports privacy and effective communication.

Q: What if I miss or need to reschedule an appointment?
A:  If you are scheduled for a video consultation, you may reschedule through the patient portal or by contacting support. Missed appointments may be subject to fees in accordance with our scheduling policy.

Q: How do I communicate with my provider between consultations visits?
A:  Patients can submit questions through the secure patient portal between visits. Messages are routed and triaged appropriately, including to administrative support or to licensed clinicians from the affiliated physician group when clinical review is required.

Portal messaging is intended for non-urgent questions. Response times may vary. TakeBack Health and the affiliated physician group do not provide emergency or urgent care services through the portal. For urgent or emergent medical concerns, patients should seek local in-person care or call 911.

Q: Do you accept insurance?
A:  TakeBack is a self-pay service and does not bill insurance. HSA/FSA cards are accepted. Documentation may be provided upon request, but reimbursement is not guaranteed.

Q: How much do programs cost?
A:  Program pricing is listed on the website and varies by program. Pricing reflects access to TakeBack Health’s platform, care coordination, educational resources, and administrative services supporting care delivered by an affiliated physician group.

Medical services, prescriptions, testing, or third-party services may involve additional costs, which are determined separately by the affiliated physician group or external providers, when applicable.

Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A:  TakeBack Health accepts major credit and debit cards, as well as HSA and FSA cards where permitted. Payment is required prior to participation in a program or scheduling of medical visits.

Q: Do you offer refunds?
A:  Refunds are not typically provided once services have been rendered. Please review our Refund Policy for details.

TakeBack Health provides administrative and care-coordination services and does not practice medicine or make clinical determinations.

Q: Are TakeBack programs safe?
A:  Safety is a priority. Programs emphasize non-opioid approaches and are offered only after clinician review. Patients are screened before starting, and care decisions are made by licensed clinicians. As with any medical care, results and tolerance vary.

Q: Do you prescribe opioids?
A:  No. The affiliated physician group does not prescribe opioids or controlled substances as part of TakeBack Health–supported programs.

Q: What if I experience side effects?
A:  Contact your prescribing clinician through the secure portal. For severe or urgent symptoms, seek in-person medical care or call 911.

Q: Are my records private?
A:  Medical records and protected health information are maintained by the affiliated physician group in accordance with applicable privacy and security laws. TakeBack Health does not provide medical care and does not store or manage medical records.

Administrative information collected by TakeBack Health is handled in accordance with its posted privacy policies.

TakeBack Health does not provide emergency care, inpatient services, or crisis intervention.

Q: What’s the difference between NoceViva and TakeBack Health?
A:  NoceViva provides educational resources such as books and courses. TakeBack Health coordinates access to clinical care through licensed clinicians using similar principles, but education and medical care are separate.

Q: Should I read the book before joining TakeBack?
A:  Reading the book or using educational resources is not required to participate in TakeBack Health–supported programs. Some patients choose to explore these materials for general understanding, but participation in educational content does not influence clinical evaluation, eligibility, or treatment decisions.

Educational resources may also be used independently by individuals who are not participating in a medical program.

Educational materials provided through NoceViva are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition.

Q: Where are your providers located?
A:  All care is delivered virtually. Licensed clinicians practice through partner medical groups and are credentialed in states where services are offered. Availability varies by state.

Q: Can I join from outside the US?
A:  No. TakeBack Health–supported programs are available only to patients physically located within the United States and in states where affiliated clinicians are licensed to provide telehealth services.

Q: What technology do I need?
A:  To participate in medical telehealth visits, patients must have access to a device with a camera and microphone, a reliable internet connection, and a private location suitable for telehealth.

Specific technology instructions for medical visits are provided by the affiliated physician group at the time of scheduling.

Q: Do you ship medications or supplements?
A:  Partner pharmacies may ship prescribed compounded medications directly to patients when ordered by a clinician.

Q: Do you provide emergency care?
A:  No. TakeBack Health does not provide emergency, urgent, or inpatient care. If you are experiencing severe or life-threatening symptoms, seek immediate in-person medical care or call 911.

Telehealth services are subject to limitations and may not be appropriate for all medical conditions or situations.

Q: How soon will I feel better?
A:  Some patients report improvement within weeks, while others may take longer. Outcomes vary depending on condition, history, and individual response.

Q: What happens when my initial program ends?
A:  At the conclusion of an initial program, the affiliated physician group determines whether additional medical care is clinically appropriate and available. Some patients may be eligible for continued care options, while others may complete their program without further medical follow-up.

Program completion does not guarantee ongoing access to medical services. Any continued participation depends on clinical determination, availability, and applicable policies.

Q: Can my progress be measured?
A:  Progress may be tracked using patient-reported outcome measures and clinician review over time.

Participation in TakeBack Health–supported programs does not guarantee medical treatment, prescriptions, or specific outcomes.
